Graduation, Easter, New Job

HOLY CANOLI! Sorry everyone I've been sort of MIA. I've been really busy and so I have chosen to spend my time with my family and friends instead of blogging. But here is what I've been up to!

Graduation
1. My boys: Logan, C-nug- and T-O-Double-D.   2. My bff and roommate, Jen and me.
3. Momma, little bro Ben, Big Bro Todd, me.    4. Everyone and families for a graduation feast at 5 Guys!

Easter
1. Cousin’s kids Easter Egg hunt.    2. Parker-This is the best picture I could get of this crazy kid.
3. Ryder constructing his masterpiece: Bunny Foo-Foo Cake.    4. The boys and their cakes.
5. Parker was completely obvious that a dollar bill was stuck to his foot.    6. Confetti-filled eggs...all over the place.

New Job
I got a new job! [Hence the title]
I am the newest preschool teacher at Just for Kids.
I will be given free reign to construct my own curriculum.
For those of you Elementary Education majors, you know how scary of a task this is!
Elementary has a state core curriculum. Preschool does not.
So this will be a huge learning experience for me.
But I am super excited! Wish me luck!

I sometimes wonder why Christmas is a bigger celebration than Easter.
Obviously, Easter could not have happened without the birth of Christ, so it is a very very wonderful thing.
Yet, the birth of that child in a stable would have just been another birth, if it were not for what He did later in life.
He atoned for our sins.
He made it possible for us to return and live with Him and our Heavenly Father again.
He died, so that we could live.

"And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus...
Behold, two men stood by them in shining garments...
They said unto them,
Why seek ye the living among the dead?
He is not here, but he is risen."

Current Read

On my sidebar I added a button for what I am currently reading. I plan to read a million books this summer, so if you are looking for a good book to read check that often! If you click on it it will bring you to a webpage about the book.

Warning: Many might be children's books [no, not picture books]. I just took a children's literature class and I have a list of about 100 that I really want to read! But I've read a few so far, and I'd recommend them to anyone, adults included!

"A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face.  It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy."

  ~Edward P. Morgan

my best friend is the best

So I have this best friend.

He lives 1200 miles away.

But he always there when I need something.

Last week, I really needed something.

I opened my front door to a knock, and sitting there on the ground was a little white package. For me. From best friend.

It was just what I needed. He has sent me packages before [we’ve been best friends for 4 years and the closest we lived was an hour away…for only 3 months] and he always just ends up throwing in completely random things.

This one began as “I want to send you a CD.” Then he realized I wouldn’t like any of the songs. So he made another one, with songs I would like. So the package became somewhat themed with things I don’t like and things I do like. It gave me a much needed laugh!

Here is [some of] the content:

So most of this was just little things that...let's be honest...what I am going to do with them? [Except the CDs and candy...yay!]

But thats not the point. The point is that someone was thinking about me and cared enough to show it

Thanks, best friend!

[have you voted yet? have voted everyday? you can! here! thanks! :)]

metal mouth.

My orthodontist told me I have to get a new retainer.
I hadn't worn my for over a year, and it no longer fit [slash was broken].
Ok yeah whatever I can do that.

So I got a new retainer.
"And you have to wear it everyday for two weeks. Then it can just be at night."
Ok fine no big deal. I don't care. I'm not self conscious! And whats two weeks in the long run?!

Then I realized when I smiled at people I knew, it was closed mouth.
And I did everything I could to speak to them as little as possible
Yet I love talking to people!
"Hello there...Katie? Whoa are you back in high school or something??"
[ok, nobody said that, but I felt it!]

Then came the worst. The pain.
Its been a few days and I can only eat soft things.
Who knew I'd have to endure the pain braces inflicted on me again!

Moral of the story:
Wear your retainer every night like your ortho prescribes.
And if it breaks, get a new one ASAP!

p.s. vote vote vote! here! thanks so much!

Conference Weekend

Ok I have a second to tell you about my weekend!

via

It was General Conference weekend. General Conference is when the leaders of my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, speak to us. We believe that there is still a prophet on the earth today, just like Adam, Moses, and Abraham. And he has Twelve Apostles, just as Christ did when he set up His church on the Earth. All of those men spoke to us and told us what God wanted us to hear. Needless to say, it was amazing.

There were 4 two-hour sessions, beginning on Saturday Morning.

I watched the first with my roommates, my brother, and his roommates. The boys so nicely provided breakfast!

In between sessions we headed to the park to play some Frisbee golf! It was my first experience and I totally loved it! [Don't ask about my score though...]

After the second session, my big brother, my little brother, and I drove up to Bountiful to spend the night at our aunt’s house. Of course, the boy’s left immediately for the Priesthood Session of conference. So, naturally, I watched a chick flick and Gilmore Girls.

Sunday was again more conference! We ate breakfast and watch the first session with my aunt, then headed to Salt Lake City to attend the last session in the Conference Center. My brother’s girlfriend joined us.

[note the difference in attire from Saturday to Sunday. Thank you, Utah weather.]
It was so amazing! We were so close to the prophet!

"We thank Thee, oh God, for a prophet
to guide us in these latter-days"

Hooray for conference! Next month it comes out in the Ensign magazine and I can read it all again!

Conference weekend is really the BEST weekend.

p.s. don't forget to vote for my picture here! you can vote everyday! thanks! love you all!

what a wonderful weekend.

Prophets are still on the earth today.

The Lord still speaks to us through these prophets.

The Heavens are still open.

A deeper post on this will come later.

For now, just know that I know those three things.

That is what is most important.

help me please!

guys.
I went out on a limb here.
did something I've never done.

I entered a photo contest!

Theses are travel photos, so I chose my favorite from my trip to Ghana.
This little girl broke my heart for whole week, before she finally smiled.
It took even longer to get a laugh out of her.

So please vote for this photo!
Vote here.
I get a safari in Kenya if I win!!! How cool would that be!?

To be honest, I don't think I will win at all, like I said, I'm not a photographer,
but I would like a few votes.
 You can vote every day!

Thanks!
 I love you all!
